Emily (Crace) Reeves

Where are you now?

Pearl High School, Pearl, MS teaching English

Why did you chose MSU?

I knew I wanted to attend MSU after I took my first official visit on Fall Preview Day. To me, it simply felt like home, and the people I met immediately became family. They still are. Everyone was both friendly and intentional—from administrators to faculty and staff to students. It wasn’t a production orchestrated for preview days. It was real, and it still is. MSU is often referred to as “The People’s University.” That feeling of family and belonging (among other things) is why I chose MSU.

How has METP enhanced your college experience at MSU?

The Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program is not just a scholarship. It's support and encouragement; it's colleagues and mentors; it's, quite simply, family. Because of METP, I will be able to give back to the the state that has given me so much, and that in itself is invaluable.

What are some of your campus involvements outside of METP?

Living for Tomorrow Co-Founder/Co-Executive Director, Maroon VIP, College of Education Ambassador, Shackhouls Honors College, Golden Key Honor Society, Lambda Sigma Honor Society, MSU Student Association Campus Wide Senator, Chi Omega fraternity, former member of Freshman Forum, former New Maroon Camp counselor

What is an interesting fact about you?
