Why did you choose to come to MSU? I heard about MSU through a friend who graduated a few years before me. After doing all the basic research such graduation rates and student population, I decided to check out the campus. Before I took a scheduled tour, another friend walked me through campus on a game day. It was raining, and stormy, but I still was in love with the overall atmosphere of school spirit mixed with family and friendship. When I finally took an official tour a few months later, I got to know and like the total campus layout. I talked with advisers in the financial aid office who had ideas and plans to work with me to make my education affordable. Then, the education department was so enthusiastic and encouraged me to look at all my options and to apply for the METP Scholarship. Every time I met someone who went to MSU, they always said if you need something let me know. MSU is a family. When I left Alabama, I didn't feel like I was leaving home and loosing family, but almost as if I am adding on to the one I have.

How has the METP enhanced college experience? One the most basic level, it has eased some of my worries. Knowing I am financially okay is a relief. Also knowing that I can go without a job leaves me more time to focus on my studies. METP has also given me one of my new best friends as well as peers to work with and struggle through classes with and older students to help us decide on which courses to take and which teachers are the best. The METP group has become a great support system as well as a great group of friends.

What are some on campus involvements outside of METP? Currently, I am in the Famous Maroon Band Color guard as well as the MSU Concert Band. Also, I attend events put on by the Wesley Foundation.

Interesting Fact? I am a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient.
