Where are you now?

St. Martin Middle School, Ocean Springs, MS

Why did you choose education?

I’ve known I wanted a degree in education for a while. I know how valuable teachers are to society and as someone who has always wanted to make a difference in the world, I felt like becoming an English teacher was the best way to combine that passion with my love for books and the English language. My AP Language teacher was a huge inspiration in showing me what kind of teacher I wanted to be. She cared so much about her students’ success and making our learning experience enjoyable.

Why are you passionate about teaching?

Teachers are a very fundamental aspect of our world. They make such a difference in so many people’s lives and I cannot wait to play a part in that. Really being there and helping students become the best version of themselves is what I am excited for most.

What made you choose MSU?

I originally came up for a Scholars Day in November not knowing where I wanted to go yet, but when I saw how friendly and welcoming everyone was and how dedicated the staff seemed to be in helping students achieve their goals, I knew MSU was the place for me.

What has been your favorite part of MSU so far?

The first night of college, when I was in my dorm and realized how exciting it felt to be living with my best friend and starting a new adventure was a memory I’ll never forget.

What activities and organizations are you involved in?

Along with the MET program, I was also involved in the Shackouls Honors College, the Student Association’s Late Nigh Events Committee, and the Vietnamese Student Association. A big hobby of mine outside of school would have to be music. I play four instruments and whether playing or listening to it, I really enjoy being around music.
