Where are you now?

Lawrence County High School in Monticello, MS

Why did you decide to come to MSU and pursue a degree in education?

During my senior year, I interned under several teachers who were all MSU alumni. The excellence shown by those teachers influenced me in my decision. Also, I got to speak with some current MSU students on my visits, and their genuine kindness made me feel welcomed. I wanted to spend my college experience surrounded by sincere people.

What do you want people to know about you?

I am a total book and movie nerd, and I believe a well-spent weekend is one that involves a Harry Potter or The Hobbit movie marathon! My signature outfit involves my beloved leggings and Converse. I'm glad the campus was spread out because I loved food and needed help fighting the "freshmen 15."

Who has had the biggest impact on your life? Why?

My Teacher Academy instructor Mrs. Mandy Feasel has had the greatest influence on who I am as a person and as a teacher. I went into her class with only the slightest idea of wanting to teach, but she became the gateway for me to fall in love with the practice. In my opinion, Mrs. Feasel embodies the dignity, grace, and authority that all women and teachers should have. She showed me exactly who I want be in life.
