Why did you decide to come to MSU and pursue a degree in education?

As cliché as it sounds, I felt at home as soon as I first stepped foot on the campus of MSU. The people and the atmosphere were so beyond welcoming, and it didn't take long before I knew that I wanted Mississippi State to be my new home-away-from-home. Aside from the physical comfort I felt on campus, I knew that the MSU College of Education would adequately challenge and prepare me for my own classroom one day.

What do you want people to know about you?

Going to school has always been one of my favorite things to do. I love the social aspect and all the friendships that you can gain. I also enjoy just learning. School has always offered a place for me to constantly better myself. The support and encouragement that my teachers have provided me through the years (even when I didn't think I deserved it) has been the driving factor of why I wanted to pursue a degree in teaching. One day I hope to show a similar love to my own students. My love for learning was instilled in me at a young age, and I know it will benefit me for the rest of my life. Eventually I hope to transfer this life-long skill to my future students, because I know it will allow them a world of opportunities.

What advice would you give to entering freshmen or students finishing up high school?

Do not be scared to take that risk! Whether that is applying for that scholarship, joining that club, or just talking to that random person in the cafeteria-do it! You never know what beautiful things that can come from those situations. Even if they do not go as planned, you can grow and learn as you move forward.
