Why did you decide to come to MSU and pursue a degree in education?

I decided to come to MSU because of the friendly student body and staff, and I had heard such good things about MSU from my friends! I decided to go into education because I love being able to teach people and help them learn new things. I’ve always felt drawn to teaching. My aunt was my biggest inspiration and supporter for me going into education. She let me read to her classroom, and let me help set it up for the new school year, and that’s when it clicked for me. I saw the love and care she had for her students, and it truly made me realize what kind of impact that I could have on the next generation if I could be  even half the teacher she was.

What do you want people to know about you?

I’m very passionate about reading and literacy, and I’ve already began collecting books for my future classroom library!
I’d also love to be licensed to be able to teach elementary art or music!

What advice would you give to entering freshmen or students finishing up high school?

Get involved! College is so much more fun when you have people to experience it with. Find an organization you like, go to campus-wide events, take advantage of everything MSU has to offer.
Also, GO TO CLASS!! It’s so important to go to class and to be on time. If not, you will most definitely get behind!
